Many people live fairly religiously always in fear of going to Hell or fearing God's wrath. Is it really worth it? To waste your lifetime going to church and praying and not experiencing life? I understand not all religions are like this, but there are many that require certain roles including the Pope and bishops. These roles cannot get married, or go to a bar with friends.. They have committed their life to religion and I think that's somewhat of a waste of life. I have nothing against the Pope or any religion, I just think they deserve a little fun here and there just like everyone else.

Religion is not a diet meant to make you avoid certain practices or places. Religion is all about achievement. The bishops and popes that devote their lives to their religion do it to better themselves to achieve entrance into kingdom of the next life. You must take the perspective of looking towards the future. Jesus said "he who loses his life will surely gain it." The mystical experiences those guys have or more satisfying and enjoyable to them than going to any bar. If they want that type of fun, they are welcome to have it. Likewise the people who want to gain eternal life are welcome to have it. Side note: Pope John XXIII was notorious for sneaking out of the vatican and going to pizzerias and playing games and telling jokes with kids in Rome.

Should people live fearing hell? No....people instead should live with great fear of doing hell-like things to other people or even to his/her ownself.

Is it a waste of time ... and so on? No . . . living in ones religious conviction is never a waste of time. It is ones self satisfaction. It is where one gets peace of mind. Just like the priest, they believed that they cannot serve two master at the same time, so they prefer becoming single the whole of their lifetime. It is their chosen vocation and it is their happiness. That is their LIFE. It's not a waste for them. For some, it is a waste of their lifetime because they define LIFE in other perspective. LIFE for them are the "NIGHTLIFE" in the red districts, the wines, the sexy women and men, their friends, etc..

Believing in hell is like deliberately lobotomizing oneself.

And it's a blasphemous insult to 'God' to believe that 'God' ever created anything evil.

What we call "evil" is actually only ignorance; wrongdoing through a lack of understanding. Ignorance is strictly a human characteristic - not a godly one. But a few thousand years ago humans created a very human 'God' in their superstitious religious writings, borrowing the idea of hell from people less intelligent and more superstitious than even themselves.

There is nothing about (the real) 'God' to fear. NOTHING. No faith is required, no sacrifice, no adoration. The real 'God' is above all these *absurd* human concerns.

You should not live in fear of Hell. You should live "religiously" because you realize we all share the human condition. Being kind to others helps them and makes you feel better about yourself -- A win-win proposition. Conversely, using or abusing someone is no way to have fun.

While we are taught to live in fear of God. We should follow God, not out of fear, but out of thankfulness for everything that He has provided for us.

As far as not getting married. Jesus stated that it is better if man is not married so that we can focus our life on Him. However, if we must get married due to our lusts, then that is great as well. Some choose the first.

if you just know what i know, you will get down on your knees seeking God mercy in the day of judgement. but if u just know the truth!

do you think this life is real? it's a trick. the truth is what's after this life:

Quran ch102
[5] Nay! If you knew with a sure knowledge

[6] Verily, You shall see the blazing Fire (Hell)!

[7] And again, you shall see it with certainty of sight!

[8] Then, on that Day you shall be asked about the delight (you indulged in, in this world)!
