The Base itself did not have fireworks but the sourounding area has a show down by the lake and there are plenty of people shooting off their own around the base. And its so nice you think so kindly of your son as such. GO NAVY!!!

I was at MM 'A' school in GLAKES during the summer of 1972. The base itself did not have a fireworks display but the holiday was observed in normal government fashion. Only essential personnel reported to work, no school, etc. The town of Zion held a munincipal display, and Kenosha, WI is about 15 minutes north. They held a display over Lakre Michiigan. I'm sure your son had a good time.
