I ran out of red wine while making the meat sauce for a lasagne a few years ago, so i substituted with port. It made the meat very very sweet, and i wouldn't recommend it.
In case you're wondering, yes i managed to knock off the entire bottle of red (south australian shiraz) while making the lasagne... even before i finished making the meat sauce.

Nothing unusal in my Lasagne, but a side dish to serve with it causes some of my friends to look at me when I say I put carrotts and pineapple with it......My aunt, who is Scottish married a US serviceman during the War and moved to the USA with him when the war finished, her husband, my uncle is a scilllian/American and his sister, my aunt betty swears that she was bought up on this.......This is how I do it......... Cook carrots as normal, drain and put into an ovenproof dish, add a nob of butter and drain a small tin of pineapple, add a few chunks, toss in warmed butter, and put back in the oven for a couple of minutes, serve with crusty bread and the homemade lasagne......Sounds a bit weird.....I know, but I have never when I have served this, had anything left on the plate.....try it, you will enjoy.

A massive moth flew in and landed in mine while I was making it once. Although I managed to fish it out, it left a lot of special 'moth dust' behind, and a few legs I think.

My... Um no, we just will not go there.
Actually lasagna is one of the few dishes I just do not make. I do a lot cooking with pastas and sauces, just have never gotten into making lasagna.
