until last year, it was believed that a blood pressure of 139/75 was a mid range blood pressure. this year anything over 130/70 is considered to be on the low end of high blood pressure. the ideal adult blood pressure is 120/70 or under. i run a constant 110/70, and that is considered low. hope this answered your query. imissroo

They changed their criteria for this not too long ago...
(Note: hypertension = high blood pressure)
Normal is anything BELOW 120/80
Pre-hypertension is 120/80-139/89
Hypertension is anything 140/90 or above
However...bear in mind that hypertension can NOT be diagnosed on the basis of a single high reading; there must be a few high readings over a span of time for a proper diagnosis of hypertension.

they say 120/80 the norms were taken in the 50's with 18 year old high school jocks is a college, but it also depends on your ht. and wt......some petite ladies have 90/60 and thats their norm.... big guys 140/90 so its really different for every person
