let your child watch horribly violent Movies or Television shows, yet jump up and turn the TV off if you see a couple begin to make love?

Are you embarrased about your own upbringing?
Is the naked body immoral?
Didn't God make us in his own image?

First, what makes you think I'd let my children watch "horribly violent movies or television shows" in the first place?

Second, sometimes movies and TV do not appropriately depict a loving relationship. Why would I want my children to watch two people have a one-night stand, when it goes against my ethics as a Christian? This doesn't mean that I am ashamed of the human body, but that I am disgusted about the exploitation of it for no other reason that for "entertainment." Let's face it, a lot of love scenes are not necessary for the advancement of the plot and do not reflect the values that I have as a Christian in the first place. In other words, sex is for a marriage relationship, period.

Finally, there's nothing wrong with the naked body. It is how we were created. Shame about our nudity original came as a product of the disobedience that let sin into the world. Since then, it has become a part of our social ethics - you can get arrested for being nude in public.

It just depends on the kinda parents ,coz mine they do not allow me to watch horror movies and nudity ,and people making love.

I am glad that ma parents want the best of us ,st the correct time .
A naked body is not immoral ,for as long as you have the commision to be naked ie when you get married .Yeah GOD made us in his own image ,but don't turn that issue into some silly beliefs .

My son grew up watching everything from horror movies to (almost) porn.

We always discussed what he saw and whenever possible we talked about it before hand. My son was 3 years old, watching CUJO , the movie about a St. Bernard w/ rabies that attacks a family, when he began laughing when he saw Cujo covered in 'blood'. I immediately became a bit alarmed. (what kind of demon child did I have?)

When I asked what was so funny, he replied, "Cujo got ketchup!"
He understood that it was all fake. I think that is a big part of the problem with children seeing violence and/or nudity- the parents don't discuss what it truly is, whether it is wrong or right, etc.

I think this should happen in all families, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Athiest, whatever.....

God is a Spirit, says the Bible. what exactly do u understand by "in his own image"? and yes, i consider watching violent movies and playing violent games has an negative impact on children. when the couple makes love, they don't just jump to the remote so the kids won't c, but so they themselves can't c that there's someone better then them in bed (joking). maybe they just don't want their kids to start asking those questions...

Wow! you ask excellent questions. I wonder that myself. I'm not Christian and I wonder why Christians preach marriage and monogamy and yet have the highest divorce rate and the most extra marital affairs. I don't watch violent TV or Movies because I believe that exposing myself to violence is bad for my soul. I don't have cable or satellite TV. I rent non-violent movies and PBS shows and still try to limit the amount of time I'm in front of the TV.
PS I don't have kids.

God created death and we all know we gonna die but for that we don't jump over a 50 storey building coz God gave us brains too to think the right and wrong. No one will Q u if u r naked in the size v r born but as we grow, God has asked us to cover ourselves, so did Adam n Eve?

God was originally adrogynous in the book of Genesis. God evolved into an angry man, a kind man, and finally Jesus. To be uptight about sexuality is to be Muslim. They marry their cousins, yet hate pornography and alcohol. They are insane. Don't be like a Muslim. The prophet Mohammed married a 9 year old girl when he was 52.

Because christians don't want to blame themselves but the media for the problems that Society (not media) has created. They are too lazy and when something does happen, they hide behind their bible and blame people like Marilyn Manson. It is Society's fault the child watches violant movies, not the fault of the movie itself.

Thats is true and we as Christians should shun these violent movies and cartoons promote violence, cursing and swearing, preach that it is possible to get power in of yourself without God. Even those movies that promote witchcraft and magic allows children minds to be more susceptible to the promptings of the devil to play with such things relating to witchcraft and to believe in them as truth rather than God.

Good Point. I beleive the reason is the method of brainwashing, Christianity. The Bible is full of violence, yet there isnt a lot of sex. Also it seems most sexual acts are punished by violence, in the Bible. In their minds, they fabricate their ideas based upon the contents of the book. Perhaps the self rightious "Bible thumpers" don't have as good of morals as they think.
