Whatdoiknow gets my vote - all the more reason to stick with the King James Version

It was good enough for a very long time with out any tampering, etc - so whoever came along and thought we needed something new and improved (Satan) can just have their versions and their omissions, and their lack of faith and trust in the Holy Spirit to reveal the truths to them and enjoy their eternity to the best of their ability - because it will be a sad one at best.

You also have to look at the original text. The KJV was written a long time ago and it was based on an inferior text type. In other words, many of the documents that they used had additions here and there. If you were to get a Nestle-Aland Greek NT, you could see the wide variety of manuscripts that are available now that were not when the KJV was written. Based on textual criticism, we can tell what was closer to the original text, and what was added later by well-intentioned, but misguided, translators.

Now, what do we do about other "translations"? What about the CEV, The Message, and other modern interpretations? Don't narrow yourself down to solely the NIV.

So the NIV gives us the Bible in a language much more easily understood. The real question is:"How will our theology differ if we read only KJV or only NIV?"
I was raised on KJV but NIV has spoken to me in such a really powerful way over the last 15 years that I believe the Holy Spirit has taught me truth from it.
I am convinced that they are both God-breathed scripture with no significant difference between them.

That is not true. Like the KJV, the NIV is just another bad translation of the Bible. It doesn't delete anything, just poorly states the True Word in english. Get a Revised Standard Version (RSV) of the Bible. It is the best translation to date. Better yet, make it a RSV: CE, and you have gold.

Oh really? Where is your references and documentation?

Did you know that many people with PhD's in history and archaeology and so forth helped create the translation?

What are your credentials?
