Norton is sneaky. Once it gets on (or in) your computer it leaves files scattered all over. Just because you go to add/remove programs, that might not be enough. You should also do an advanced search for Norton files and folders and delete them as well.
1. Start > search > all files and folders
2. Type in "norton" without the quote marks
3. Look In: My Computer (from drop down menu)
4. Advanced Options: make sure you check mark the first three options (search hidden files and folders, search subfolders, and search system folders)
5. Run the search. It may take several minutes so be patient.
6. If any files/folders are found with the word norton, highlight and delete. Restart computer.
But wait..... there's more. Norton is owned by Symantec and some of the files may be under that name. So go back to Step 1 and do it all again. This time, in Step 2, type in "symantec" without the quote marks, and run a new search, just to be on the safe side.
By eliminating these files and folders you should have a clean system and be able to install whatever AV program you want without fear of having a conflict (and possible computer crash) with Norton/Symantec.

You can open My Computer, then Local Disc. Look for the Norton file and delete it. If you find it file shared by other systems,or you cannot delete the file intact, open the main folder and delete the individual files. This might take a bit of work if they are file shared, so have a pen and pad to take down these file names. If this is so, open each shared folder and delete Norton on each.
Good luck!

Norton Antivirus on my own gained't end pop ups. i exploit Norton information superhighway protection, & it has an really sensible firewall, & pop-up blocker. you should likely improve to that out of your Norton Antivirus on the Symantec shop information superhighway web site.

I had to take mine in and have them completly wipe Norton off my system. It embeds itself in your system and is virtually impossible to completely remove. At leats it was for me as I do not have enough knowledge on these damn contraptions!.
