How can certain European countries such as Denmark, France, Germany, and Turkey claim to be free, democratic, tolerant, mulitcultural countries when they discriminate against women who choose to wear a piece of cloth over their head???

France bans hijab wearing girls from going to school...
Demark allows women to be sacked because they wear the hijab,
Turkey bans hijab wearing women from university or having a government job,
Germany many states do not allow teachers to wear hijab..(they have no problem with nun's covering up!)

These countries claim to be free and pluralistic..but how can this be true are not allowed the fundamental right to pratice your own religion

(if it harms nobody else...and wearing hijab doesn't hurt anyone!!!! If you are offended by my hijab..that is because you are a racist and ignorant - I'm sorry if you found my last statement offensive..but I had to say it because it is true!)

Practicing our religion and wearing symbols such as the hijab..or Jewish skull cap, Sikh turban and Christian cross...are not offensive, inciting hatred or anger, or.. forcing religion on to others...

We are just dressing according to our customs.. Actually by wearing our cloths we help educate others of different cultures and religions to help them be more tolerant. We show that we are normal peace loving people.this is the same for all religions..

The only people who do not like that are the intolent anti religious fanatics...who donot respect others who think differently..and want everybody to be the same!....

If France claims to beleive in Liberté, égalité, fraternité than why not for Muslim girls too????

1) Please don't answer my question..by telling me to go back to where I come from!!
I was born in an European country..and I have the same rights to follow my life style choices as everybody else...

2)Please to not defend these countries by comparing them to some Muslim countries...I think the laws in Saudi Arabia, and I ran or wrong too!
But BTW..in many muslim countries like Dubai and Egypt wome are free to wear what their want...

3)And this arguement is not about how the hijab oppressses women..It does not..Most women choose to wear it..Muslim women are not oppressed...There are many Muslim countires with women leaders such as Bangladesh..Has Denmark ever had a woman president??
And even in our Quran Mohamned (pbuh) was employed by a women Kadija...

(sorry for all the details in this question :-((((

Of course you have, or should have the right to wear whatever you want. Preferably without any prejudice from other human beings.

I saw an above answerer compair you with bus-bombers. That sort of stupidity doesn't even deserve a reply. It almost makes me wish she will be attacked by a nun someday.....for the record: i said 'almost'.

The situation in the countries you mentioned have gotten out of control. The cartoon-issue in Denmark, the big fights in Paris. People can't see wrong from right anymore, and try to please the scared majority with insane laws.

It's sad and i feel for you. I wish this world was a little more tolerant and normal sometimes. :(

Get Muslims to start going against Allah's law for worldly gain and you break Islam.

They say it is to all religions, but Christians can still wear crossed to school. They can put the under their shirt, but if it falls out how much is said.

To me it is an excuse to keep Muslims out of school or get Muslims to go against their beliefs. Either way they will be asked about it by God on Judgment day.

although I havent gone through your situation I understand how you might feel. But I dont think its about discriminating against your religions freedom. I think is about trying to protect you. You might be harm because of generalization, specially in a school setting. Not saying its right, but stereo types are there and governments do their best to keep people safe.

You are quite right to be asking that question. Good grief what a simple thing to be doing and totally inoffensive to any one with a brain. I'm sure its symbolic to them in some way but they need to get over it if they want to claim to be a free and democratic nation.

I am not a Muslim but a Catholic and I agree with you entirely. You should have the right to dress as your religion expects. No one anywhere should have the ability to take that right from you. How you dress harms no one. It should be entirely your choice.

God Bless,
Debra

You are quite right. In my opinion, this is an infringement on religious freedom. In France, all religious symbols were banned from public schools, which strikes me as unjust.

Whens the last time a nun smuggled weapons onto a bus and blew it up?
You are feeling discrimination in western countries because others of your religion are making war on western countries.
Can't be more plain than that.
Is it fair? No. Is bombing buses fair? No. Get over it.
