The Bible:

"Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as christ also is the head of the church, he himself being the savior of the body. But as the church is subject to christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything." (Ephesians 5:22-24)

"Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression." (1 Timothy 2:11-14)

"Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church." (1 Corinthians 14:34)

The Noble Qur'ân:

Qur'ân: "And they (women) have rights similar to those of men over them in a just manner" (2):228

"And the believers, men and women, are protecting friends one of another; they enjoin the right and forbid the wrong, and they establish worship and they pay the poor-due, and they obey Allâh and His messenger. As for these, Allâh will have mercy on them. Lo! Allâh is mighty, wise." (9):71

"Whoso does an ill deed, he will be repaid the like thereof, while whoso does right, whether male or female, and is a believer, (all) such will enter the garden, where they will be nourished without stint." (40):40.

I am a Muslim woman I have a voice when I do not agree, I have 2 BA's and working on a master degree in Edu. Which would be followed by a PhD in History. I have the same rights as my husband. Women are not believed to have original sin, because Adam and Eve were both guilty not one more than the other.

Islam is so much kinder to women then Christianity.

As a Christian Pastor and a husband of 33 years allow me a few moments to speak on this subject.
I, as Pastor, allow women to speak in the church, but they are speaking under my authority as Pastor.
I allow the women of the church to counsel other women on proper dress and conduct.
I allow women to work with the children.
It is a pretty much accepted fact that women think on a more emotional level than man while man thinks on a more rational level. It was for these reasons that women were held to silence and submission.
But one thing that a lot of men seem to miss is that the woman is to submit to the man as the man submits to Christ.
One last comment; God made woman to be a help mate for man, not a slave, not a sexual plaything, not a punching bag but a help mate.
For those men that don't think their wives are doing enough remember she is only to help you not do it for you.

Women are equal to men in importance, just not in function and responsibility.

Notice that the Bible says that women are to subject themselves to their husbands - the husband isn't supposed to force her into subjection. Sarah called Abraham "lord," but Abraham didn't force her to do it - or even suggest that she do it.

Does being subject mean being less important?? Absolutely not! The best example is that our Lord, Jesus Christ, submitted himself to Mary and Joseph. He was obedient to them. Does that mean He is less important??? Of course not! Jesus also subjected himself to the Will of the Father by dying for our sins. Does that mean Jesus is less important than the Father? No - they are both equally divine.

Comparing subjectiveness to importance is a flawed concept. Men and women are of equal importance. If men were good enough on their own, God wouldn't have created women. Speaking of which, God created a "helpmate" for Adam, not a servant or slave, but a partner. That should say a lot right there.

God created humans to be equal. That does not mean he intended for them to be equal in every respect. They differ in their talents, their interests, their personalities, their abilities. Man cannot give birth to children. Does that make him inferior to women? Hardly. Women do not determine the gender of the child. Does that make her inferior to man? No.

Men and women can also differ in station or degree of authority. Women and men are not equal in all respects; thus woman was created as a complement of the man. A complement is a counterpart – something that makes complete. Adam was incomplete. Is that an insult to the woman? I don't think so. For in the creation account, when it was not good for Adam to continue alone, the only creation that would do for this magnificent human son of God, the only creation worthy of this magnificent specimen of a man was . . . a WOMAN. Woman was created as a COMPLEMENT of man. And that was the greatest COMPLIMENT ever paid to a woman.

You are much mistaken. In true Christianity and in the Bible, women are exalted and precious. But historically, men have treated them in a demeaning manner. That is not the Bible's way. That is not God's way. And that is not the way of true Christianity. That is merely the way of the man - who by his treatment of her - shows he is not really a man at all.

No Woman are not equal to Men in the bible. The Bible is very against women actually. It was Eve in that fairytale whom ripped Adam and Eve out of the garden.

This isn't because Women aren't equal to men it just means during this time in age, Men were considered superior. So that is how it is written in the fairytale book called "The Bible"

God in the Holy Bible is speaking to us in a spiritually sense.
Thus if a man is righteous, ebiding the Law of God, then yes a woman should have her husband consensus.
Not all women are married, not all women are religious!
Not all men are married, not all men are religious!
Then there is the Law of God, the Ten Commandments, clear enough for man to understand.

Of course women are not equal to men. Don't be silly. You've already cited most of the evidence. I've heard (not read) that someone in 2nd Timothy it states: "Thou shalt not suffer a woman to stand before a man." Its times like when I hear stuff like that, I want to goto church. (I'm just kidding.)

Hi, I didn't read all of the above because that's not part of my religion. However, my religion does believe that woman and men are equally important. But they are obviously different- because physically they were created different and their mind think differently as well as their emotions. Woman and men can both become great people just in different ways.

I WAS going to try to post a sensible and helpful answer to the question. But these quotes clue me in that your purpose is to promote an agenda, not to get information. Have fun.

yup women are equal to men. but it is a general understanding that men know better because we are from the stronger sex. but it does not mean that women are not equal to us. women have equal talents as men do. without women there is no life in this world. in hindu tradition, women were treated as god, because they were the ones who gave birth to a new life. women are surely equal to men. but our ego makes us think the other way.
