Train hard, pushing a harder gear. Ride alot. Drop a little weight yourself, rather than off the bike. You can get less rolling resistance by inflating the tires a little higher, but it's not really safe.

Recalibrate your cycle computer to read high by entering a larger wheel diameter.
Ride more often which will make you faster!
Ride with a group on a road ride and learn to draft behind them.
Lube your chain.
Inflate the tires to 60 psi to make them harder. Beware, you might lose some traction if you're riding on dirt.

Biggest way is to increase your tire pressure. You'll sacrifice traction, but a harder tire will allow you to go faster

You can't other than riding harder. If you are not riding offroad, then change your tires from knobbies to a smoother tread. This will decrease rolling resistance.

1) get physically fitter
2) get physically stronger
3) ride longer and harder
4) lose unnecessary weight
and
5) train correctly
These are the cheapest way, without upgrading bike parts.

Have you cleaned the drivetrain lately? Also, maybe take it to get it tuned (if you haven't recently), and get a fit if you haven't.
