Belt colors and different ranks are there to make the student work, to feel a sense of accomplishment, and to help keep class in order. You see people say..ooo you're a black belt..and it's glamorous to them, but if you are a true martial artist it shouldn't matter to you, if you don't have the skill of a black belt...you're not. Just because you might wear one, doesn't mean anything unless you know how to defend yourself when the time comes, and if you are mentally strong also.

Belt colors fade, but you are true to the art you are doing and through consistent practice, your ability won't

I seen a shirt one time that said "It's not the belt you should be afraid of...it's the person wearing it"

I learned that the focus should be away from the belt rank. The belt is just something that holds the pants up. Learn your martial arts skills to perfection. Nothing satisfies more than beating someone of higher rank because you are more competent. Too many "black belts" are promised those belts within a certain time fame whether they deserve it or not. You want to be one of those that earned it.

I am a 1st Degree black Belt in Korean Martial Arts

I'm also 5'3" 115 lbs, blonde and wear girly skirts so nobody ever believes me.

I know techniques, forms and especially like weapons. I'm in it for the art, balance and focus of it not so much the brute force and fighting although I'm re-learing a lot of that which is fun.

Just earned the black belt but it isn't the color of the belt that matters though but how the student learns.
