Parents or caregivers expecting return shouldn't want your money but of course they are going to want you to return the gift they have given you by watching you go to school and getting a great job that makes you happy and making the right choices in life. That is returning the favor. I think they just want you to be happy. I really don't know if this what you or talking about or not, but that is how I took the question...Really need more details in question!

What do they want from you money they spent raising you? Well raising a child is an act a love and the payment is having that child turn out a fine law abiding citizen . If they want you to pay them back then THEY are in dire need of some mental help .There is no law that will side with them and NO DON"T PAY THEM BACK . If you want to help them out here and there and can do so financially go for it . I help out my Mom , but she doesn't ask for help . I just know when she's in a bind .

Maybe they want to hold on to you by saying this. Maybe they dont know of any way to keep you attached to them so this is the only way to keep you. Or they want retribution. But you should just break away (if you cannot afford to help that is) and go far away from both.
