My eleven year old son would like to know if everyone's mom is paranoid?

People please stop with the definitions! He know what it means to be paranoid, he just wants to know if all moms are that way! Besides he's eleven, do you really think he is going to read anything more than a couple of sentences?

Absolutely, mom's have a habit of remember every detail, every fight, every event. And since boys will be boys, mom's tend to think the worst is going to happen. Whereas Dad's just go with the flow and everything is okay until it happens (if it does)

Hello please tell your son, it is a mothers right to be paranoid.
And that not now, but some day he will appreciate it.
My sons are 17,18 and I still worry and all the fun stuff that goes
with being mom.

Don't be to Paranoid though, that can backfire, just guide your son with your knowledge and let him now that you are there for him no matter what. Instill good judgement in him, and you will be amazed. They will mess up time to time and I guess that's the way we learn, just help guide him. Your doing great!!

Tell him to be grateful, some kids parents don't care!!
He should feel lucky, mine are starting to realize that.

Close to all

Any time a person compromises their reasoning abilty, - then they've pretty much forfeited their status as a fellow human being.

When women reach this stage, you can't negotiate with them, nor can she "loose" on the issue.

It's really a sad situation, -it's the devolution of mankind!!

I'm a grown man, and my mother told me to drive with the windows up in the summer, with our without air conditioning. The reason?? "A bee might fly in the car and scare you.. and you might have an accident".

Pretty sad stuff if you ask me.

All good moms appear to be paranoid, at least some of the time.

Yep. And tell your son even when you're old and gray and he's married with 3 kids and a dog you're still going to be paranoid so he should just get used to it ;)

Mom's may be paranoid, but real mothers are not paranoid they are smart, wise, and caring. If caring about your child is being paranoid, then go on and be as paranoid as you can be, because all mothers want their children to be safe and prosperous, so true mothers aren't paranoid, they are smart, wise, and caring.

According to Wikipedia, paranoia is: "usually used to describe excessive concern about one's own well-being, sometimes suggesting a person holds persecutory beliefs concerning a threat to themselves or their property and is often linked to a belief in conspiracy theories."

Therefore, I cannot say that moms are "paranoid," as it is not about their own well-being, it is their child's, and it is not really about being persecuted or threatened. I would say that moms are concerned and worry about their kids and they are trepidacious, anxious, and apprehensive about what can occur to their kids. Probably we worry more than is necessary, but that comes with being a mom (or dad!). Those moms (and dads) who are not concerned about what their kids are doing are really setting their kids up for harm (although it may seem "cool" to the kids). Unfortunately, being a parent is not about being cool.

I'm paranoid, I find myself yelling at my kids to stop before they get hurt all the time. 2 mos. ago my son broke his arm on the monkey bars. He wasn't doing anything he shouldn't have and that made me wonder if all of my worrying and paranoia are justified.

Yes!!! Yes!!! Yes!!! I'm a Mom, and we sure are and every mom I know is too. It's just that some are more than others. Be patient with your mom, she just cares and knows more than you think. I use to never be patient with my mom but once I got older I realized that she was right more times than not. Patients is the key!!! She loves you to death I am sure!!!!

moms worry about something happening to their children because they love them so much. Just want to be certain that you are always safe and that can make moms appear paranoid.
