i'm still a kid, and the best books i'v read is"I AM DAVID" about a polish boy who escapes during the holocaust. it is now a huge movie. i also loved the "PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH." many imaginary character. a world any kid would have liked to live in. "THE WESTING GAME".full of mysteries and kinda creepy. u need to think a lot or else u get lost. "THE WOLVES OF WILLOUGHBY CHASE." simply funny. about 2 girls whos parent leave for a trip. a creepy woman takes their place and send them to a boot camp, and goes through their parents' letter. they had to solve the mystery. "A MURDER FOR HER MAJESTY" i guess u already kno by the title what its about. "A SINGLE SHARD" a book of courage and determination of an orphan boy in japan (or korea or china or sumplace there)who wants to become a good pottery guy. "BETSY AND THE EMPEROR" . based on true story of napoleon the great and a girl named betsy. romantic and classicaly funny.

i have many more. you might be wondering how i know these books. i was homeschooled, and these books were part of the fun! thats why i loved homeschooling. back to the point...if you have a child or sumthing, definately give them these books. believe, i know they;ll love them. ;)

"And the one where the letters climb up the coconut tree... " That is Chica-Chica Boom-Boom. It is one of my 4 year old's favorites.

I was always in love with the Anne of Green Gables series. But it would really depend on the age frame you are looking for. When younger I also enjoyed most of the Beverly Cleary books.
