You pretty much have to pay for ANYTHING that's going to work worth a damn. Especially if you're already infected...sorry.

I had this problem and went to www.filehippo.com That has several things to try (all free) The ones that the guy from Microsoft told me to do was AdAware and then CClean. I had a horrible virus but did those and then AVIRA which has a thirty day trial that you don't need a credit card for...Good luck. My PC is now about 25 times faster and I'm not as irritated as I used to be!!!

there are 2 programs every computer ought to have dear. they are both free. one is an antivirus called AVG, go to AVG.com and download the free version, just keep looking for it until you find it, the other is a program called zone alarm free (it's a firewall and will prevent hackers, muchers, roaches of all sorts view and access what you are doing online. just run a search engine for zone alarm free and download that also, no need to pay for the z.a. pro, the zone alarm free does just a fine job. So AVG free and zone alarm free. Will save you money, time, energy, and your pc from intruders and will attack and fix most viruses. good luck dear, puters can be so darn frustrating. lol

For virus removal and antispyware it's really not worth it to compromise on cost. Having said that you may want to try the following free downloads (for personal use) because they are good:

virus software: Avast or Avg
antispyware: ad aware or spybot or windows defender (you need to be a registered windows user for defender).

cnet downloads is a good site to get these.

Download Norton's Internet Security 2006 15-day free trial. When the time expires, just do it again.

Anything but Norton Anti-Virus. Microsoft and Norton have "issues" and it really slows the machine down. I've had good luck with F-Prot and McAfee.

not really, i mean you get what you pay for.

try going first to your IP's web site. a lot of them have these available for free.

i personally use norton, and recommend it -- i like being able to update it. totally worth the $50/year. It's my computer condom so to speak -- i never surf "bareback."
