I often see Christians in here challenging atheists to prove the non existance of god. They see this as a way of proving god does exist. Their logic seems to be this : If you can't prove for sure that god does not exist, well then he must exist !

So, on to my question.

Christians, can you prove non existance of invisible fairies who fly around in the clouds all day ?

I don't want bible verses, or religious stuff, I just want an answer to the above question about the existance of invisible fairies.

If they are true believers Christians cannot answer your question. This is because they have been conditioned by the cult that has them in thrall. They can speak only the words that fit their ethos. They are compelled to say that there is a God and fairies are ridiculous.

Interestingly their conditioning also makes them blind to the huge damage Christianity does to ordinary decent society. It splits people by race, colour, creed, gender and sexual orientation. It promotes war, encourages dictators and despots and forgives the actions of evil doers.

Christianity is about the few having totalitarian power over the masses. The only extraordinary thing about Christianity (or Islam for that matter) is that humans seem unable to escape its clutches even in the cynical and sharp 21 Century. Wierd.

To Bobm709 - Where is this evidence that God exists? You are proof of what I say - you're conditioned to say these things that you cannot prove. There is NO evidence of God. Jesus - Yes, loads of evidence - of a prophet, a holy man, a charismatic teacher - but absolutely zero evidence that he was anything more than that. You however, believe, because you have been taught to believe.

To VoiceofReason - The problem is that Christians and Islamicists expect the rest of us to obey their codes. People like me, who have no religion, but a strong personal sense of right and wrong, are asking why should we? I don't want the laws of my country in any way influenced by religious values - down that road lies manipulation of the masses, community divisiveness, sectarian hatreds and even war. So, we are asking you Christians to PROVE there is a basis to your always claiming the moral highground.

To Julie - Prove it!! What cancer was this that you could see it shrivel? Where is the evidence? You are as delusional as the suicide bombers of Islam who believe that virgins await them in Paradise. By your answer you make the questioner's point - you spout these beliefs, but you cannot prove them - you are truly away with the fairies.

To Hope Dollar - Let's go through your arguments:

You ask; "Have you ever seen your brain"? The answer is Yes - CT and MRI show both its form and function. The brain can be examined in the living and the dead. Under surgical control the exposed brain of a living person can be stimulated causing the expected reactions (both physical and emotional) in the person. The brain is fact.

You ask; "Have you seen air before"? If seeing is necessary to proof, then the spoken word does not exist. Proof means irrefutable evidence - air can be inhaled, exhaled, weighed, felt, disassembled chemically, coloured (so it is visible). It is utterly and absolutely tangible - its proven (unlike God).

You say; "we may have not seen the so called "fairies" who fly around us, but we have seen their "EFFECTS"! Evidence please that it is the fairies. I mean proof - not conjecture.

You say; "The evil "fairies"/ demons are responsible for all the HATRED you see on earth"! Please, just a bit of evidence please, please.

You say; "The good "fairies"/ angels of God are responsible for the miracles that real Christians see everyday - as the questioner says - prove it!!!!!.

But I do believe in invisible fairies who fly around in the clouds all day. So how can I prove their non-existence as you said?

Hi!

Let me ask this....Have you ever seen your brain?

Surely you have not seen your brain but you believe what the biology book tells you...

Another question...

Have you seen air before? I guess not!! You have only seen the "EFFECTS" of air i.e. dust, hurricanes but you have never seen air, have you?

Now realise this.... we may have not seen the so called "fairies" who fly around us, but we have seen their "EFFECTS"!

The evil "fairies"/ demons are responsible for all the HATRED you see on earth! They are the once that control people that they should smoke even if they know how much money they'd lose for cigarrettes and while they know the that SMOKING CAUSES A LOT OF DESEASES.

The good "fairies"/ angles of God:

Are responsible for the miracles that real Christians see everyday e.g.

A drug dealer who hated Christians becoming a pastor.
A racist turning into preacher of the gospel in an area of the race he used to despise.
People being healed of uncurable deseases like CANCER, AIDS.

You just need to go to the right places and you'll witness these miracles for yourself.

Visit any born-again Christian church that serves Jesus and you will know that something that you do not see with your NAKED eyes DOES exist.

God bless you.

No they can't prove it they'll only refute it with a Bible verse which doesn't make sense. You can't prove something with evidence that's being questioned. But who can really prove anything. I think the thing that Christians don't understand and a lot of other revelationists is that their beliefs are only beliefs. Not facts or fictions but beliefs, which means it may or may not be true. This means your beliefs are not absolute, what's true to you doesn't have to and is not going to be true for everyone else. This is not an insult. But revelationists tend to take everything opposite to their beliefs as insults, that kind of attitude is childish, close minded, and ignorant.

Greetings friend-

I am not Christian myself, but as a Baha'i, I believe in the harmony of science and religion.

I think most people will tell you that science has never proven nor disproven the existance of God. And, technically, I suppose it has never proven nor disproven the existance of your invisible fairies who fly around in clouds all day.

I think the differing of opinions come in that each side is defending their beliefs by saying they cannot be disproven by the other, which is true on both accounts of belief versus disbelief.

And it is your perrogative to continue to believe in your fairies if you like.

Best wishes.

No, they can't. It's impossible to prove a negative. That is why the burden of proof will always be on the believers. Not being able to prove god's existence doesn't mean it exists.

Almost anyone knows that a belief in GOD is based on a belief system and not something that can be proved beyond a doubt.
There will always be those that are unable to substantiate their religion because of a lack of study.
I can't prove that GOD is any more than you can prove HE isn't.
But then that's why it's called BY FAITH

Dear SecularHuman,
I have seen a man healed of cancer with my own eyes. I watched the cancer shrivel and fall off. I have seen God heal me from certain death as well. It is not simply a divine spirit that we can't prove.
God has spoken to me and watches over me. There is no doubt in my mind that if you too would believe then you would see the awesome miracles that occur every day.
There is no need to prove non-existence of things unseen.
If you were to trust your heart to God then you wouldn't see Him as invisible...

You are putting words in other people's mouths. 'Christians' are not asking for proof from 'Atheists' that God does not exist, they are asking the Atheists how they can be so certain in their assertions. Anyone with any sense knows there is no 'proof' one way or the other. What Christians mostly seek from Atheists is open-mindedness. Atheists tend to be the most inflexible in their viewpoints, and the most likely to accuse others of that very fault.

If you can produce as much info for fairies existence, such as 66 individuals from Asia-Africa-Europe who never met over a 1500 year period, names, places, dates, events we can check historically and archaeological and nothing invalidates it like the Bible can do, and over 300 witness who saw them, like the Bible can Jesus, and go back to source documents..... like the Bible can again....then I would have to believe.

You probably believe in Socrates of which there are no copies, Aristotle, of which there are less than ten copies or Caesar w/maybe ten copies....YET you do
not believe the Holy Scriptures of which there are about 6,000 copies being 120AD the earliest.
