If you have too many viruses or Malware you may have to re-install Windows. Before that try this.
You need to install and run all these programs no matter what the problem is, or how you finally correct it.

THEY ARE ALL FREE.

The best Anti-virus is: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. (www.grisoft.com)
The Best Spyware defense is: SpyBot Search and Destroy (www.spybot.info)
AND: AdAware SE (www.lavasoft.com)
AND Spyware Blaster (www.spywareblaster.com)
The best Firewall besides the one that comes with Windows is: Zone Alarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/co... or just (www.zonelabs.com) and select the FREE version.

These are all FREE and are all that are required. There is no reason to pay for this kind of software, except to give a donation to the writers if you can.
ALL the above programs are recommended and should be run on a regular basis. With some the free versions they must be run manually.

The best way to avoid getting any Malware (virus, Trojan's, spyware, etc) is to practice safe computing. Microsoft and many others have countless articles on the subject of safe computing. (something I think should be taught in schools)

Sometimes Anti-Virus won't help. Try it first, but if that does not help, re-install your operating system, make sure you use get all the possible updates. If you are using Windows, use MS Windows Update at http://update.windows.com

If you do not update your operating system, you are guaranteed to get more viruses. Even if you don't use the Internet, sharing disks can result in trouble.

Make sure you use some kind of virus protection. Free AVG does a very nice job. Other alrternatives exist.

You SHOULD try ANTIVIR (www.free-av.com), for removing viruses. I didn't get any virus for a long time since I used this antivirus. It's free for personal use.

However, as you said you have LOTS of virus and bugs, and If I'm the one on your shoes, I will re-format the hardisk. This is the ultimate (and best) solution to your problems, but you should do it only when you know and have done it before. Also, prepare for those drivers and other installation disks. If you want to try and experiment, removed the old hardisk and put NEW hardisk, then install Windows XP, since this OS normally don't need drivers.
