No, we still won't have the equipment by then...... The space shuttle is due to retire in 2010, and that can only make it as far as Low-Earth orbit......... it's replacement, I don't think will be available until 2012, and it'll probably take until 2015 to iron out all the bugs..... might make it back to the Moon by 2017...... Mars COULD be a possibility by around 2025 after we've had a bit of practise on the Moon.

No - it's just not practical. We just don't have the hardware to pull such a project off. We won't even be able to make ot back to the moon by 2010 considering the budget constraints and the technology development path currently used.

The existing (aging) shuttle fleet will be of little help as they can only get to low earth orbit (150 - 500 km or so off the earths surface). They can't even nearly get into geostationary orbit (about 36 000 km above the earth). The moon is at least about 400 000 km away and Mars will entail a trip of close to 100 million km just to get there (more or less 220 times further than the moon).

The next logical step would be to establish flights to the moon, with a lunar base from which mars flights could be launched. Expect this to happen between 2015-2020. Then from there mars will be in reach say around 2025.

As far as crawling on Venus goes, you'd be a blob of of spit on a hot griddle in about half a second. It's hotter than Mercury, whose surface is pretty much molten rock. The year 2010, if my math is right, is 4 years from now. No way will we walk on Mars by then. The project would already have to be well into the planning stage. I did enjoy the movie "Red Planet" though. It is one of the most scientifically accurate science-fiction movies I've ever seen.

It took NASA eight years to reach the moon from when that goal was stated, and they were hurrying as there was a space race going on at the time. For now, there's no impetus to have a manned expedition to Mars as soon as possible. Even if we decide to have such a programme, there will have to be designs put forward then actually constructed, and that isn't happening while the Shuttle and the ISS are the foci of current planning.

To answer the question, we'll be lucky to see if it happens before 2025, if at all.

Well by 2010 N.A.S.A. is putting there shuttle fleet in mothballs so if were ever going to get to mars, it'll have to be one of the private space companies but since space tourism is still a new market it'll be like another 15-20 years and that's being hopeful, look there are plenty of aerospace companies out there that are just dying to take a crack at building a mars shuttle or rocket, it'll just take more time than i would like.

yes,it is possible if we want. According to latest human technology, our space ship can reach on mars in few months. That means human still have 3 years time before starting the journey

i have a different perspective. it could be done of course if we put all the money in the world to research on space travel but there're much higher priorities than that at this time. people die of starvation and because of the war man. more money should be put towards preventing these problems. or there worn't be any humans left to go live in those planets ultimately. when they think we run out of resources here. everyone knows that a third world war could destroy life on earth and all of us will just vanish. there would be no one left here man. so more resources should be allocated towards research on earth rather than outer space.
thats just my opinion.

Its possible... Mars a lot more realistic than Venus. As you may know, Venus is too hot to sustain almost any life.
