The best thing to get is Brooks Runderwear. They make really comfy seamless boxers and breifs made from a moisture transfer polyester microfiber. Your local running store should carry these. You can look them up at brooksrunning.com:

try using those kinds of boxer briefs that hug your body and get them in a bigger size and if that doesn't work go to an sporting goods store and ask a clerk if they have athletic underwear

go out and buy running shorts. You can't expect to run in cotton (and I mean RUN...not "jog for 10 or 15 minutes") and not end up chafed and raw.
Running shorts have a line to hold you, they absorb no sweat, and are not restrictive.
Cotton is fine for lifting...but for running??? No way.

wear compression shorts, they are spandex. My boyfriend wears them when he is in football, works out and runs and all that. That way you don't have to worry about hurting yourself in anyway from flopping around or whatever. And spandex is comfortable anyway. :)
