Identify ur field of interest. Read about it again and again. Then think about it for sometime. U will definitely come to some question that's unanswered. Chalk out the problem, its causes and then design a solution. Then study various techniques that are adopted in this field. Now use a combination of these to devise a problem solving procedure.
But, u still can't be sure of its practicality. So, find out a centre that conducts scientific research on ur field of interest. U may mail to an investigator about ur plans. If ur idea is convincing, then u would get a chance to work on ur favourite topic.
