When Sri Lanka scored 398 against Kenya, It was considered a World Record then, Why not now ? Its just that according to the ICC ranking points criteria they will recieve much less points than what South Africa recieved, when they broke the World Record against Australia. This will be the World Record until some team breaks it. But the tag of "The Greatest ODI Ever played" will be with the Australia Vs South Africa match. And.. The Highest Score batting Second is still 438 by South Africa.

A record is always considered a record... But since it's set against a non-test playing nation, it is a bit less worthy. But ICC has given full status of an ODI to that match. Suprisingly, the match has not been recorded or telecasted.. So, nobody, even the Lankans, won't be able to see it.. But anyway, the record has been set.. So, nobody can argue this is worth or not.. Dutch team played some good cricket against England and can't be condemned.. I'm sure that South Africans, specially Herschelle Gibbs, don't like what's happened.. But it doesn't matter whether it's against the Aussies or any other non-test playing nation the record has been set as long as it is given the same ODI status by the ICC.... ICC needs some serious thinking here... Well done Sri Lanka. Hats off for your out-standing performances..

Sri Lanka has never scored 443/9. Their highest score was 398 vs. Kenya. The highest score of all time is scored by South Africa: 438/9 vs. Australia in Johannesburg in February 2006.

Record is a record even if it is performed with or against weak teams.

SriLanka did that but none other till now did that against Netherlands know. Many teams got the chance to play with weak teams but none scores. So the SriLankans should be credited for their performance.

frankly it is a good lesson for ICC for trying to play matches with poor teams... England & ICC wanted this to happen.

Records should be consdered between test nations only.
But now record has been done. No more arguees.
Well done Sri Lanka.

yes, because the teams are selected to play on meeting certain criteria. it is not nice to say that some team is new or inexperienced. all teams have been new at some point in their career, and other teams have created records against them at that point of time. so this is definitely a world record.

I think that it was only a few months ago that such matches started to be given ODI status. Give the Dutch a chance. They should maybe play in the C&G Trophy like Scotland and Ireland.

hi to u,

Iam Nirmal, according to me for the time being it is the highest score, but it should not be considered as the world record because there may be higher scores scored in the world cup next year.

The guys who can't bear it as a record should ignore it. But it's a record which ICC accept.
