Take raw carrot juice. Gargle your throat with luke-warm salt water as many time as possible and before sleep. Before going to sleep, take honey with licorice and let it seep slowly down your throat, do not swallow it in gulp as the idea is to coat the throat lining with the licorice to heal the area.
In the meantime, stay away from fried or heaty food.

I am in a profession where I have to talk for up to 8 hours ata time. Three methods work well for me to end a sore throat.
1. Hot tea with honey, enough that your throat can feel the honey.
2. Gargle with hot salt water.
3. Halls honey-lemon cough drops.
Hope this helps.

Cough mixture can help but it wil make you go drowsy. My father's recipe is gargle with half hot salt water. Gargle twice a day and put in at least 4 to 5 tablespoon of salt. It really helps and worth it .Try it and good luck with it.

I like hot water with fresh lemon squeezed in and honey. And buy some Buttercup syrup from the chemist - it does wonders with a cough.
I've been told a spoon full of honey with pepper in it is good too.
Drink lots of green tea which will help your body recover.
Stay away from dairy products (even coffee/tea with milk is bad) and alcohol.
