SUICIDES or attempt to suicide have always been considered a punishable offence by Indian Law.Don't you feel that a man must have absolute right over his life-and if he does not consideres it worth living , and has willingly decided to put an end to it ,why should the court then be wasting its time on deliberating upon such the issue?Isn't it a complete waste of the time and efforts discussing such issues?please send in your opinion...even a slightest effort from your side would be greatly acknowledged.

When an old, terminally-ill person takes an overdose to stop the pain, probably not.

When a young girl takes her own life because of school pressures we definitely need to be sure of the reasons.

A man does have a right to control his life.
The Government, on the other hand, has the right and duty to protect the well-being of their citizens.
If the government decided that Suicide is to be prevented, and further determines that punishing suicide attempts is a deterrent, they have a right to pass such a law.
The last i checked India is a democracy, if a majority of population is unhappy with the law, why don't you elect officials who will repeal the law?
On the other hand if majority of people think that it is a good law, your are out of luck.

Yes a man should have the right over his own life, but we don't, do we? So there it is, the government controls us. Haven't you ever heard of our good friend Dr. Kavorkian who practiced assisted suicide for his patients. Some people praised him and others hated him. But why? Because some people know when to kick the bucket and when not to. Some of his patients were just making irrational decisions too quickly. And therefor he was hated because he was the last person alive to blame. But why did people love him? Because of the mercy killings he did. Those who are in extreme pain and have inevitable doom just want to hurry it up. Who ever would want to suffer? So there you go. There are two sides to the story.

The irony of suicide is that it is a crime that is punishable legally, but you can only be prosecuted if you fail at the attempt.
