The sizing of cup sizes can be confusing, since some manufacturers use multiple letters such as AAA or FF. A common cup size system amongst European manufacturers, in order of increasing size, is: AAA-AA-A-B-C-D-DD-E-F-FF-G-GG-H-J. It is important to note that the actual size of bra cups vary with band size. As an example, the cup in a 34B is smaller than the cup used in a 38B.

The number is the size the cups are and the letter is the measurement of the width of the chest. I should know I am a 38c.

the letter refers to the cup size which is the actual size of the breast whereas the number refers to the size of the chest

They are suppose to be cup sizes. The number is the measurement around the rib cage below the breasts.
