Yes I did, I can't fib and say no. I didn't cry over the game, I was very proud even though we did not get the result, but gosh I cried for Lucas Neill (Aus V Italy). I felt so devastated for him. Got teary again at the press conference when Guus said he was inconsolable and would not leave the sheds. It is just so sad when one man holds himself responsible for the entire outcome of their match. Especially such a good man like Lucas.

I haven't found the football that moving, but I did shed a tear when Andre Agassi was beaten on his last match at Wimbledon.
It was when he said farewell after being beaten by Rafael Nadal. His lip quivered (and so did mine!) as he said:
"The guys here are awesome tennis fans and have shown me so much love."
Then he blew kisses to the audience...aaarrrhhh

I cried when Argentina lost the PK shootout, because I felt it was so horribly unfair that we had to play with a new goalie (who obviously wasn't as good as Pato) and that after all the hard work (and really good football), our boys were going home.

i have. (watching) football, especially the world cup, is an interesting, exhilarating experience. for someone who watches/plays this sport and understands it (even if a little) will be thrown into a real whirlwind of emotions: anguish because of injuries, anger because of verbal and physical fights and bad calls, grief because of lost opportunities and goals, contentment and pure joy because of victory. and crying--whether because of missed goals or jubilation for a hard-earned goal--is part and parcel of this global sports event. emotions shown by players, coaches, fans, etc. are great magnets for empathy to those who watch.
in a cosmic kind of perspective, the world cup's a venue for us to check and assure ourselves that we're human, and that's good. we cry because we have a heart.

yeh of course, football is so emotional. i suspect that most people cry when their team goes out especially if they have gotten past the group stages.
luckily though portugal are still in it.
