Most of these answers are absolutely ridiculous! It is true that one can be determined a virgin if the hymen is intact. You CANNOT lose your virginity to horseback riding, your bicycle or your gyno!!!! Virginity is defined as, at least to me, the vagina being penetrated for the first time by a man that you love and will be with for the rest of your life. If you are gay, it can mean being penetrated anally by another man. If you are lesbian, it can be manual penetration by your partner's fingers. It all depends on how you perceive it. But the most common is being penetrated by a man.
If your virginity was taken from you physically by force, you can still call yourself a virgin, because I believe that it is a spirtual matter over a physical one. This is still a very heinous crime nonetheless. But know, that your virginity is ultimately given to the person of your choosing.
Please dont lie to yourself about it though. Dont just say after every encounter, Oh that didnt count, and still call yourself a virgin. Be smart.

Well unless you know what a virgin and a non-virgin look like ( their vagina's i mean) then you wouldnt know for sure unless you asked her and she was honest. Some girls lose their virginity in waysother than sex! All that has to happen as far as i know is the hymen gets broken and your no longer a virgin. So what if she said she was one, but she'd broken her hymen horse riding for example?
You can know for sure unless you trust her word.

If you are curious about it, then you can ask the girl honestly. But anyway, is it really that important to know if someone is a virgin or not? Does that affect your intention or impression for that person?

ok I have read lots of silly questions here. First of all hymen is a piece of skin surrounding the vagina. you can search on the net and see pictures of it. You will see if there is part of the vagina covered she is still virgin, if not she is not. it may be broken by tampons, and other sport. if she is stilla virgin and you push a little on her vagina it hurts her. try it and see if a little blood comes out. but first see on the internet about the hymen

Hymen will be intact. But many who are really virgin, may have ruptured hymen due to sports, masturbation, gynec examination etc Of course here virgin means one who has not enjoyed intercourse with a boy.
