It is about something I read awhile ago i Yahoo Answwer:
"DID ENGLAND TAKE TERRIBLE PENALTIES OR DID PORTUGAL HAVE A GREAT GOALKEEPER (who saved pratically all the penalties )?

"Lance" -- Beckham MISSED a terrible penalty in the other penalty shoot out against Portugal in the Euro2004. There was NO need for Ricardo to try to defend it then. Beckham kicked the ball 100 miles above the bar... Beckham blamed (lol) blamed the turf, ad said that the turf was... wait for it, "defective" !!!

Ricardo his a great goalkeeper! But he also said "I could see in their faces they weren't confident. And I practiced a lot."
A bit of both!

Bit of both. History says that England are always weak in Penalties. England has never won matches on penalties in World Cup. This is the first reason to lose against Portugal. The Second reason might be England lost to Portugal on Penalties in Euro 2004 and the same Goal keeper was the hero then.

Portugal had a great keeper. 2 of England's missed penalties were good shots, and 1 wasn't. Ricardo and Schwarzer are the best two keepers at saving PKs. Lehman is pretty good too.

England was terrible at penalties and the Portugal keeper was great- well done Ricardo.

a bit of both. the english players were nervous which contributed in the poor execution of their penalties (look at jamie carragher who took the penalty before the ref blew the whistle). the portuguese keeper, Ricardo, had a good history against england in previous matches and penalty shootouts.

Both! But I would probably have to say that having a good goalkeeper is a bit more important considering how hard it is to stop the goal during penalties...

Portugal does have a great goalkeeper,....but...all of the penalties shot ( by the English ) could even be saved by any third division goalkeeper...they were that bad..

Both!! But, you must understnad that it`s hard! And it didn`t help that England`s best penalty scorer missed. They lost confidence and Ricardo`s confidence was high. Especially because in Euro 2004 the same thing happened...
