Anyone have a recipe for a cold cure. I really need to get rid of this cold that's been hanging on for a week. Tried Vit C tabs but hasn't helped. I eat lots of veges and fruit every day. Nothing works. Help!

I once got rid of a cold by going roller blading. I have to thank my pushy roommate for that. (I felt like hell...but, he kept nagging me to go. It worked.)

A side note:
Many quality studies show that echinacea has no effect on a cold, None whatsoever! (despite the misinformation that the herbalist, as well as my family and friends offer).

And, similar studies show that Vitamin C does no appreciable good if you already have a cold.

Mostly time is the best cure. But as for medicines and stuff to make you feel better, if you drink a cup of tea with one or two drops of red thyme in it, that always clears the sinuses and kills some of the germs to make you feel better. Of course, it tastes hideous and smells even worse. But it always shortens the lives of colds for me.
Also, I use the Vicam over the counter cold remedies. I like the nose spray when I'm really stuffed up. It seems to shorten the length of my colds, too...

Mostly, I'd say make sure you are getting enough rest and enough fluids. And wash your hands a lot - and each washing should last as long as it takes to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Actually there isnt a cure for a cold... to be exact... you need your body to fight it off... so the best is to get plenty of rest and water.... but if u need to fight off the effects of a cold like running nose, u can try to take some clarinase, and for the stuffiness of the head maybe some panadol cold relief... but i prefer just a hot face steam to ease the stuffiness.... for blocked nose, try to press the pressure points underneath the armpits by clamping maybe 2 bottles in place... it will release the blocked effect...

Cold tablets help to control symptoms, citrus fruits like oranges and lemons are a good source of natural vitamin c, honey and lemon hot drinks are great for sore throats and chicken noodle soup is good too.

No cure, but you can boost your immune system to recover faster. Double the vitamin C you're taking (the recommended dosage is far too low), drink echinacea tea (it's more effective than pill form), get more B vitamins, use steam or eucalyptus to loosen things up, and get plenty of rest.

There is no cure for a cold, it will run it's course then go away. You can take medication to relieve the symptoms.

keep taking the vit c anyway. it'll help one way or the other. liquids and rest help too, but there is no quick fix to a cold.

try taking a warm tea with just lemon and honey.... lots of lemon and lots of honey... take warm baths... and drink lots of water...and sniff anything that smells of menthol, for example try melting menthol in boiling water then soak your handkerchiefs in them for a while... dry them then blow your nose with them... anyway... hope this helps and get well soon!!
