European reconciliation, my friend. The United States has learned the hard way that unilateral or limited-scale multilateral action in situations like the one with North Korea end badly on the diplomatic scene. Iraq taught us that very well.
GWB can't afford to aggravate western Europe all over again. American exceptionalism be damned--we actually do need to have friendly and functional relationships with our closest traditional allies. We can't afford another war right now--the United States military is spread far too thin as it is.
It's good to have friends after all, really.

Yours is a leading question. It assumes a fact not in evidence, that the President is hiding behind anything. The UN does not have, or is not, a skirt. That is something some women wear. Obviously, no one country is in a position to stop another country from doing anything legal and not harmful.
President Bush, alone, would not do anything to Iran, if that country fired missles. Bleeding heart liberals, all over the world, want to give peace a chance, first - second - and always.
Obviously, President Bush is not a coward. He ordered the invasion of Afghanistan. He coordinated a coalition of the willing to invade Iraq. In both cases the enemy governments and armies were destroyed.
Ask yourself how much of the talk that comes North Korea or Iran is a bluff.
I think you are out of line for calling the President a coward. The North Korean missles turned out to be duds...just like you.

North Korea only tested missiles, like many other countries do all the time. The USA would not attack Iran. The threat of the withdrawal o Iranian oil supplies prevents that as it would have such a disastrous effect on the ecomoies of Europe, Japan and Taiwan it would make cause a severe recession

Let me see if I understand this...We invaded Iraq without the backing of the UN, and he was a bully, cowboy, war criminal, etc. for doing that. Now we go to the UN, so now he's a coward? Yeah, OK. You've just proven that there's no pleasing the left. Whatever President Bush does, you're going to find fault with it. And you wonder why we don't take you seriously?

I just wonder why the US despises the UN one day, and runs to the UN for help the next.....
To answer your question, I think if Iran launched a bottle rocket the US would carpet bomb the entire country.

He won't attack North Korea because they WILL fight back.
I don't blame North Korea for inceasing their defences, he's been talking about attacking them for a while now.
