Some people just like to be mean so they do mean things. It makes them feel like they're better or tougher than everyone else.
Others are wimps but they're AFRAID of looking like wimps, so they act stupid by taking drugs, stealing and being mean to others even if deep inside they don't really want to.
Regular people don't need to prove anything to anyone . That's why they don't act bad.
But remember that there are some people who do drugs or other bad things because they've had a tough family life, so we shouldn't judge or hate them if we don't really know them.
Everyone deserves a chance. We might need a 2nd chance someday, too, and hopefully someone will give us one. : )

It's much easier to be "bad" than "good". From a sociological perspective, our society as a whole embraces violence, drugs, etc. Action movies, ultimate fighting, video games, music, the media, etc. glorifies violence, drug use, and profanity. Weak minded individuals cannot differentiate between imagination and reality. They do not see the consequences and choose to walk the easier path. I don't believe they think they're cool, I think they believe what they're doing is right and just. I'm not blaming action movies, ultimate fighting, video games, and music for people's choices as I am a fan of all those genres. However I do believe they help shape who a person is, and without other role models or outlets, a person has no other way to shape their morals and ethics.

I think it's their defiance of fear that makes it cool. Take note that when there is injustice, and standing out for what is right is dangerous, it is the guys who have the guts to stand out that are considered heroes... basically cool guys. In just and law abiding societies however, the need for such heroes isn't as much, so you don't need guts to do what is right, but you need guts to break the law, or at least skirt it.
So it is not right or wrong that makes you cool, it is your defiance of danger. Try doing some dangerous stunt that is neither right nor wrong, but which not many people can survive to tell the tale, and I assure you you'll rate high on the coolness rating.

Insecurity and the lack of understanding on'e place in this chaotic world my friend! Peple are searching for a place to belong, any place. This scares them and causes self sabotage. If only that weren't the case. Some people reach understanding within themselves and grow out of it to become fully functioning empathetic individuals. And maybe you can help them by offering understanding on their journey!

Probably because of low self-esteem. Usually, people with low self-esteem really try to fir it with people they think are cool, and sometimes, the people they think are cool don't really make the best choices.
It could also be becuse of depression. SOme depressed people think they have nothing to do in their life besides going downhill.

it's not whether it's doing good or bad anymore.
people think they're cool doing bad things because they appreciate the act of bravery for doing what most people are afraid of doing it or not willing to do it.
but again, it's a very subjective topic because people appreciate different things based on their culture, custom, habit, and the surrounding
for ex: President Bush are willing to invade IRAQ (not many people are willing to do it), but I still don't find it "cool"
another ex: for most women, Brad Pitt is cool because he can act "cool" in front of the screaming fans in front of him
