I agree, Rooney should have been able to keep his anger to a minimum because he is playing at the professional level. There was no need to do what he did. Rooney got himself kicked out of the game and England could have used him in the penalty kicks. He most likely would have scored, even though the Portugal goalie was doing extremely well.

I agree on the fact that Rooney has some anger problems. However, if he commited fault and the reffery saw that then he should have received a warning right away. But no, C Ronaldo came and started blaming him for doing this and doing that and the ref decided to give him a red.
So, both are to be blamed, but C Ronaldo most...especialy because he is one of the guys that fake fault and other stuff...like Figo...
ps. I have nothing with Portugal...

I take it you mean to blame for the red card, not for the loss. Yes, he lost his temper there for a while but he's still ayoung player and that's all part of the learner process. It could have come at a more convenient time (like in a qualifier match against Andorra or so), I agree.

Cristiano Ronaldo did what any footballer at that time would do to improve their chances of winning he made sure the referee gave WR a card. Although the wink by CR puts it all in a different prospect.

Anyway the referee was standing right next to it, so I am sure he would have given straight red anyway.

FIFA should however put more emphasis (yellow-red cards) on players asking for cards for other players. It is disgusting.

England played better after Rooney and Beckham went out. In fact, that was their best performance. All rooney did (in the matches that he did play) was dance around and snarl at the players and referees. He needs something more than anger management.

Yes..I do agree that Rooney need to calm down its just a game to have fun with and to take serious at the same time. That wasn't even cause for him to get all upset and to get a RED card. I hope that he has learned from his mistakes. I like Rooney, but should have never gotten that angry.

England played better after Rooney was kicked off than they did while he was on the field. So what are you blaming him for, exactly? The first half of the game? That's fair enough.

I don't think they'd have miraculously improved if he'd stayed in.
