1.The cell needs to maintain a proper surface area by volume ratio which would change if it got too big.
2.Many small cells working together are more efficient than one large one.
3.If one cell dies in a multicellular organism, it doesn't matter. However, if the cell were bigger, each cell would become too important to lose.

...the cell should always be small because if the cell undergo an abnormal growth it will become a cancerous cell and will spread out... =)

... also because since the cell is the basic unit of life and every living thing has cell and the cells will be big we will also be big... right?? hehehe=) hope you get my idea...

1. diffusion - it would take much too long for anything to diffuse in a large cell, and the cell would die in the process.

that's the main reason. all other reasons stem from this one, its the greatest limitation of size to a cell.

1.) small is light and light means you can take it with you easily...which is the point of a cell phone, being able to carry your voice and text communications with you everywhere.

2.) small means it takes up less battery life, and that means that your voice and text communications can last longer.

3.) small means it is harder to produce and spurs competitions among cell phone manufacturers to build better products for a better price.
