I am Native Hawaiian. I tried fake tan years ago, but since my skin color and tan are different than they way white people tan, it never ever looked right on me. I would like to try again since I know they have gotten better, but I don't want to spend money on it and then have it make me look ridiculous. Has anyone else with Hawaiian genes or even people with olive skin tone had success with it? And if so, what brand?

I have never known of a "bottle tan" that looked good on anyone.
I am medium skinned (part Native American Indian) and used a temporary tanner for a special occassion that looked "ok" and it was Neutrogena Instant Bronzer in "Deep". It goes on looking way too dark at first, but mellows out in an hour or so and I would recommend putting it on at least an hour before you are to go out.

I do have an acquaintance that is darker skinned that had luck with a "Spray-on" tan at a salon making her look darker without looking fake, but it is a bit pricey...cost $15 a session and eventually washes off. Another thing to be aware of if you get this done, although it makes you look more tan, because your skin is not you will need to use the same suntan lotion you always do to proctect you from the U.V. rays.
