Is it enough if I connect the mobile handset to the computer through a USB cable? Or, is some special software required?

youll be needing a software called "nokia pc suite". you can download the software free at www.nokia.com, and look for the specific software for your unit. if your unit for example is N90, you should download a N90 pc suite, install the software, connect your phone using your usb, infrared or bluetooth, make a connection, then you can browse your phone, so you can transfer then just like your phone is a hard drive of your pc.

You can also try using bluetooth, then even if you don't have any pc suite, you can transfer images to your pc. First make a connectio/bonding with your phone and pc, then send from your phone using bluetooth to your pc,.. from your pc accept the file, then you can see it to the received items..

if that didn't work then better buy a memory card reader specific for your memory card, it is usb connected, plug and play with Windows XP, and you can read your memory card like a flash disk, labeled removable storage. Hope it helped you! God bless!!

You can download the Nokia Suite Software from the nokia website (http://www.nokia.com) which will enable you to use the data cable (or infrared/bluetooth adapter).

You will also need to instal the driver for Nokia photo sharing. The driver will be in the cd supplied with the phone. if you are using windows xp then the driver will be automatically installed, no need for the cd.
