Arrive at the terminal 3 hours before your flight time.Heathrow can be confusing,crowded and with all the new security you could have a hard time making your flight.If you get thru early don't worry as it is a wonderful airport with plenty of stores and is an experience in itself ,so you won't be bored.In case take a good book and catch up on your reading

The standard check in time is 2 hours before your departure time. If you are going to the US, go earlier. The security is tighter.

heathrow is one of, if not THE busiest airport, if you get there earlier than u need, you can spend your time passing through quicker, and in a coffee bar, rather than waiting in line,i suggest 3 hrs min
