Make sure you LOVE it!

general surgery is a tough carreer. Makes having a marriage, family, and a life tough.

Find a doctor that will let you shadow them. Go into surgery with them. Make sure you can stand the sight and smell of blood.

I was pre med for a long time. Finally I realized that I was more interested in the money and security than the job. Best carreer decision I ever made was to NOT be a doctor.

My brother is a doctor. Loves surgery. Loves the body. Loves to learn. However if he had it to do over again he wouldn't.

Learn about the clash between Doctors, health care providers, and insurance companies (...not to mention the government). Being a doctor isn't what it used to be. Make sure that you can tollerate that aspect of it.

Besides that....get good grades and get in a hospital as an intry level position or volunteer. You may want to consider working as an EMT through college become a CNA and work as a nurse while going through college. They want good grades, experience, good MCAT score, and a fun person to work with.

In the next year or so start contacting colleges and talking to their admissions and counselors. Seriously this will give you a lot of information and input. Ok Also you want to check into financial aid I can't tell you which one because there is really a lot of different kinds for anyone who needs financial aid. The other option you have as well is student loans. But please listen make sure if at all possible if you end up later on getting one or more of these student loans try to get a fixed rate. A bank like your parents local bank is seriously a better deal then a lender who prays on nothing but college students. A student loan can break you financially. So it would be best if you ever get one to get the type you pay after you graduate from college. If a lender does not offer this option go somewhere else to someone who does. Watch the high interest rates sometimes an interest rate might be fixed for only so long like 2 years maybe 5 then bang out of nowhere it shoots up sky high. Just start getting all the information you can and read and really learn about financial aid and student loans. Then that way you can be educated and make the best decision for how your going to pay for school for yourself instead of what others are telling you. Interning is usually 2-3 years you will have 4 years of basic college stuff and learning so forth then all your premed then your interning. I know here you have to apply for medical school I am not sure if it's like that everywhere. Make sure your grades are kick @ss and your attendance is good and you have other things on your high school background like student counsel or groups whatever even something like yearbook lol. The more you have on your high school record the better it makes you look. Which helps when trying for a better school and trying to beat others out of a spot to get in. If your working in the medical field yes you will have job security straight up!

Take the appropriate courses, life sciences, math, chemistry, ace all the tests, volunteer work at hospitals and rest homes. That will help an awful lot towards getting a chance to go to a decent med school.

in high school there really isn't too much you can do, but take science classes all 4 years and make sure you do well in all classes and add some outside activities so you can get into the top schools. once your in college keep taking science classes but don't limit yourself to only that. med schools today are looking for people that have "people skills" and know the psychological aspects as well. everyone in med school takes anatomy so they aren't so focused on that so much anymore.

All of the classess you take that people are talking about are going to have to be repeated in coledge. You should see if there is a work study type program, or simple nursing classes. Something to show the direction of your initiative.

Study hard to keep up the best grades possible. Take as many science and math classes as you can...like Chemistry, Calculus, Physics, Biology, advanced science and math classes, etc.

Go into something that doesn't require such attention to detail or have risk to peoples lives.

Your spelling and punctuation are so horrible, you need to choose a less sensitive field.

Learn how to spell for one thing. Also be diverse, do a wide variety of activities and classes. School dig that.
