In what ways is Australia different from America? Do they have high taxes, not as many rights? What is so different, why does everyone want to come to America? I'm thinking about buying real estate in Australia and just want to know some common differences. Anything would help thank you.

I am returning to Australia to live with my 2 children. My daughter is a dual citizen in Australia and the USA.

The differences are as follows: Positives: Less taxes, not as over crowded, lower cost of living, booming job market, exotic foods to us here in the USA are everyday fruits and veggies in Australia, not as anal about rules, humid heat in most of the States in the USA, etc.

Negative/Positives: Water restrictions are enforced. Imported yank stuff is a bit more costly, dry heat even though its much hotter. If you can live with the differences, then, like me.. there are no negatives in living in Australia.. frankly, if it wasn't for my family, I would have no reason for coming back to the USA.. I love it in Australia.

I have lived in America my entire life. I'm 32. I have a lot of friends from Australia, and I would love to live there. America is no longer a dream. Honestly it's not all that it's cracked up to be. Too many taxes, laws, government control and police. Crime is bad and ppl are mean. Let's not forget the fact that there's very little awareness in America for certain illnesses and mental health as there is in AU. If I had the money I'd leave. Just sayin

I doubt that many aussies want to come and live the American dream, we have our own thing going on here.
In saying that, we are a nation of travellers and adventurers, so we do end up all over the globe.
america and australia differences are not as much as they used to be, but our food prices are cheaper, homewares dearer(we dont have walmart), we are more laid back than most people(with the exception of some texans), and we do have an aussie sense of humour that most the world dont get, but thats ok.
If youa re buying real estate here, to rent, get an agent, if you are coming over to live, enjoy!

Well for starters Aussie workers get 4 weeks annual leave a year, the Aussie person is very laid back. We have the best beaches in the world. We do however have dearer petrol than America at the moment. We have great pies, kangaroos, great looking Aussie blokes. Hope this helps.

One of the biggest differences is that the people are a lot more layed back. Also, the animals and landscapes are very different. The polulation and cities are much smaller. But otherwise, the two countries are much the same.

Oh, and the reason there are no hurricanes is because hurricanes soimply dont happen the the southern hemisphere, but cyclones do.

We're more British than American. We don't all want to come to America. This might be suprising to you, but some people LOVE their countries... Not everyone wants in on America!

well i think many trends ie: technology, fashion, crimes... seems to be about 10 years behind the US
i always thought australia had on of the highest taxes in the world, well we pay about 50cent to every dollar over $65 000 you earn and about 30c every dollar under $65k... how does that compare??
the realestate in australia is abit unstable at the moment due to the recent massive rise.

i dont know what you are all on about "different animal" and such, theres heaps of dogs and cats here too

most importantly - the population is much less than america hence there are more beaches to go round.

I have heard that Australian men don't treat woman as well as US men, and everyone wants to come to America, because people believe in the American Dream...even though more and more Americans never achieve it...lol.
