Dells are pretty good, but you have to get replacement parts from Dell. You can't just run out and buy something for the box.

There are several brands of computers that are good pc's such as HP, Dell, Gateway, Sony, Toshiba. But any computer will have problems if the memory is not sufficient and the hard drive is too small. A lot of people will sometimes blame poor performance on a certain brand of PC when the brand is not necessarily the problem. They will be trying to run huge programs and have dozens of different things going on and the computer will lock up or completely shut down sometimes simply because it's resources are not sufficient for what they are doing. So regardless of which brand you buy be sure to get as much memory installed in it as you can afford and a hard drive of sufficient size for your needs. If you have enough memory and a decent size hard drive Windows Vista should fun fine on it.

I purchase lots from Costco. One day I saw a guy returning a Dell Desktop to them. I looked at my wife and said, "Dude, you're returning a 'Dell'". In other words, Dell computers are some of the worst on the market. Their hard drives and motherboards are second-rate and always wind up being replaced after 2 years. You then have to purchase them directly from Dell, but after that time, they may have discontinued that specific model. Forget them; try eMachines or building your own.

GateWay, Dell, Compaq, and HP are all very good computers, standing on equal ground. As long as you have, at least, 1gb of ram installed, a 2ghz processor, along with no less than 100gb of hard-drive space, you should be fine to run "Vista". MicroSoft also has the free "Upgrade Advisor" tool which scans your computer to let you know if it is compatible with the upgrade.

Get the tool here..........

Why dont you purchase Latitude Notebooks from Dell. That runs better than Dell Dimensions or Optiplexes.
