I'm not familiar with Kurt Cobain's music but I'm pretty sure Johnny Cash's will be around for a long time.

Cash will live on. Cobain didn't do **** except for kill himself, which is the best way to achieve immortality. He's not even really responsible for the "grunge" movement, there were many other (better) bands doing it before Nirvana. They just happened to be the most successful.

Like all other music, it will still be relevant but people will have less respect for it. Look at Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin who lived in the shadow of the Beatles and others. They are always better musicians and better writers, but they suffer of non popularity,

Sure. A lot of music will be forgotten history in 50 years, but those two artists will still be getting airplay.

Of course.
I still listen to Dorothy Dandridge, her music is some of the best to me. Her music is quite old. 40 or 50 years I would say. To me, music is like wine, it only gets sweeter with time. Hey that rhymed ! :P
