Mating instinct. Other species -insects, even- engage in prostitution. THere's a species of beetle, the male excretes a nectar from the top of his back. When the female comes to drink it, he latches on and mates with her.
A wasp will present an insect, when the female comes to eat it, he holds onto it and mates with her while she's feeding. If she doesn't finish it, he keeps the remainder for the next one that comes along.
PLANTS even do it. There's an orchid that resembles a female wasp, even its smell. The male wasp mates with it, and in turn gets pollen on it that the wasp transfers to the stigma of the next orchid it mistakes for a female wasp. The wasp gets a good shag, the orchid gets pollenated from a member of its same species.
The only difference is money. The animal kingdom uses food, housing(like the weaver birds of Africa), and protection(either for the young, like the Gobi fish, or protection, like the Meerkats) instead of money, but trade for sex has been going on far longer than Homo Sapiens has been around.
Nature fully approves of whoring.

yes it was the first profession. bcos long time before ppl start working for living there were ladies in the street who used to do this for living. this can be read by old religion books 2500 year back. those days kings were used to get plesure from these ladies as a habit. ;later they recieved food, shelter etc from the kings

The most primitive thing we have ever had is our own bodies. There were most likely people willing to use their bodies to get something they wanted.
However, there is no way to prove the oldest profession.

becoz whatever book, refernce matrial you find - you'll find refernces of women priding services for "valuables" - Cant say money as in earlier times there was no concept of money.
