yes my mother in law is disturbing. she won't quit associating with my husband's ex-wife and she is CONSTANTLY reminding me that my step-children aren't my children and she gets ANGRY when they call me mom... the kids are 19, almost 18 & 15... they CERTAINLY have minds of their own and do what they are comfortable with. AND, she will call my husband and complain that he hasn't called her. AND, last thanksgiving i was in a bad car accident and she was at my house with my husband when i called about the accident. she didn't come with my husband to the scene, SHE WENT HOME without knowing ANY details. i just ignore her and try to stay away when i know she's around... it bothers me less! my friends joke that i got into the accident to make her leave my house before i returned for dinner... (funny, yet not)

My dad used to love his mother-in-law more than his own mother. Also my sister's husband thinks my mom is so nice too. They get along really well. But other than these 2 exceptions I have never met or heard someone that likes his/her mother in law.

No, my wife and I have often commented that we really love each other's parents. My mother died this year and in some ways my wife took it harder than me. That shows how close they were. And this week, we are going up to spend a day with her parents. I know others who get along well with in-laws, but it does seem rarer than what you asked.

My mother in law is flat mean. I have decided I don't want to be around her negativity. She told my 6year old granddaughter that she was fat! It devastated the little girl. She says mean things about everyone, gossips continually. She used to tell me I was fat, *she is fat by the way*, she doesn't say it to me now that I have lost 35 lbs. But you think she says anything positive about the weight I lost...oh hell no.
I was raised that if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. She apparently wasn't ...even her friends say she gossips about complete strangers. It's just sad.

My sister is a good mother-in-law. She always
keeps contact with her daughter-in-law.
She got to see the grandchildren more, by doing
this.
She also didn't get into their business.
