It depends on who I'm talking to at the time. If someone writes something funny, I write LOL to say 'laughing out loud', but if I am saying goodbye to someone I like, I say LOL, as in 'lots of love'. It can mean a lot of things. It could mean 'lots of laughter'.

I don't ever write it. I hate it. I rarely laugh out loud when writing, or reading. Usually I find it to be nothing more than a crutch for someone who has either not said something funny in the first place or who has incredibly weak communication skills. I detest most of the IRC chat stuff.

But that's just me...

Well it generally means Laugh Out Loud. Most people do use it when they say something and don´t want you to take it seriously. But....it is an actual word in the dutch language. Lol means to have fun. If we say you are "lollige", then you are being funny. We also use it sarcastically... kind of like saying "Don´t do me any favors." So I wish you lots of "lol":)

LoL doesn't mean anything to me anymore. Now its become something normal in chats with other people. I guess that's what happens when you use sequence of letters like that constantly to the point where it becomes a normal everyday routine. LOL See what I mean?

for me, it's an "i just wrote something stupid so i'll write lol at the end to show people i'm not being serious" type thing. except i really dont use it a lot.

I used to think it meant "lots of love". I thought lots of people loved me - it gave me a warm fuzzy feeling.

:-)

Then I learnt it meant "laugh out loud" and realised that everyone was just laughing at me.

:-(
