9 weeks ago I shattered my hand practicing Kemp with my instructor, I initially broke it in 3 places. It has healed completely since then but everything I do with that hand causes pain, and sometimes I cant move it at all. I went to my doctor he said I was fine. I went to a surgeon and he did surgery saying that a nerve or a joint was pinched or something. Since then it has been hurting worse and more often, can someone tell me whats wrong? Or atleast what I should do?

I am not a doctor but for interpretation do visit doctors in that experience I can say.

1. Fractured bone could recover but not 100% therefore, you can not use your hand as it was before.

2. As your surgeon said, if you got nerve damage, then there will be problem to use your hand perfectly.

3. You got pain when you use hand, because it is not fully recovered you need rehabilitation.

If you have much pain left, it means your treatment is not proper. After good treatment there will be 5-10% pain remain I guess.

I suggest you should consult with good doctor or surgeon.

Did doctor take X-Ray/MRI etc. If they did then you can see the difference in bone before and after treatment. But you can not see nerve problem.

I know many people during Martial Art or sport get hurt but after treatment they recover some times not 100%.

You better take care of your hand.

Depends on where it hurts, how deep and how sharp/dull the pain is. If all your doctors say it is healed and ok, use a stress ball or a ball that is of the same density and squeeze it daily to strengthen the muscles. If it is a nerve being pinched or damaged, then only surgery can fix it but to alleviate the discomfort, put a very light amount of tiger balm on the hand, but massage it very vigorously prior to and while applying the tiger balm.. When you start practicing kempo again, go slow so that any broken bones completely heal and properly or else it will be more problematic down the road.
