Why U.K. only? Are the laws of physics different there? If you have some basic hand tools, a jack, some jack stands and a little hand eye coordination, do it yourself. it's a simple matter of determining where in the system it is loose and tightening the fasteners- check at the flange that connects from the exhaust manifold to the exhaust pipe near the engine- I find that to be the location about half the time they are loose (and a good penetrating oil will help- heat tends to corrode the fasteners rather rapidly and the oil will aid in tightening them).
Just make sure when lifting the vehicle to do so on a flat hard surface, and use the jack stands to safely hold the vehicle in place- I had a car fall off a jack one time, and fortunately wasn't under the thing. (eye protection is also a VERY good idea).

Sounds like a broken exhaust bracket. If it is that you can do it yourself, by jacking up your car, just make sure you use jack stands. The bracket should cost about $6, around 3.75 pounds. If you have to take it somewhere, it should cost no more then 37 pounds labor, and then the 3.50 or so pounds for the part. If the bracket is not broken you may have another problem, I would take it to a professional exhaust shop. Good Luck.

Sounds as if you just need a new exhaust clamp which can be fitted in five minutes, you could do it yourself but make sure the car is on jack and axle stands on level ground for your own safety.

no,I am not from the uk but I beleive I know what your problem is.It sound like the shield on your catalytic converter is rattleing. This is a common problem on alot of exhaust systems and should only cost around $15 or $20 to get it fixed. All it needs is to be tack welded back in place.Good luck and I hope this solves your problem
