Why is it that because I post a question in the sports section, people assume I'm a guy. Just because I don't have a name like hottiechick or something doesn't mean I'm not a girl. While I'm here, I'd like to add...yes, Kobe is a kick-*** player, but I think a team is only as good as its weakest player. Since the rest of the Lakers obviously couldn't keep up, (judging from them getting eliminated) Kobe was out of the running for MVP. Tough luck...talent is wasted when the talent isn't evenly distributed. Comments?

My goodness....some people automatically think I'm doing this for a women's revolution or something. I just want people's opinions, not a condescending letter. But props to the person who wrote the long message, you have lots of energy. go on girl.

Well, some people don't think that just because you are a girl doesn't mean you don't know anything about sports. It just like saying you are a guy so you most know about sports. Well, anyways I will like to comment on what you said. I agree Kobe is a great player but he has a team with a lot of sorry and young players who can't help him out. I mean come on they were up 3-1 in the series vs. the Suns and they didn't close out the game. That was so sad. Kobe should not have got MVP anyways because he didn't really do anything but just score points and win games for the Lakers. Kobe just has to wait until he has other people for can help him on offense and defense which means he needs to have a better team.

If your statement about the weak players were true then Miami wouldn't have a championship right? Kobe need some talented players on his team point blank and then he will get the MVP he should of got it this year. You talk about bias because you're a female David Stern have to be bias to keep picking Nash as the MVP along with all the other voters. For the record I didn't know you were a female until you said it! LOL! you go girl REPRESENT!

Get over it/yourself.
Statistically speaking, the bottom line is that men tend to show a higher level of interest in organized athletics than women do. It's a fact, the sky is blue, deal with it. Now, it doesn't make it wrong or make a gal butch or whathaveyou if she's into sports, good for her. But we shouldn't get on our high horses and demand egalitarianism in this regard at this point in history. Keep playing/watching/loving the game, but don't expect a man to assume you're a woman in a basketball thread....it isn't about gender anyhow, it's about the game, so quit trying to make this a women's movement issue.
Don't get me wrong. I'm a woman, I love basketball, and I'm all for equality. But not where it isn't and shouldn't be an issue. If this were a "Women and Basketball" thread, then by all means.
And to respond to your final comment, look at the Lakers 03-04 season, and eat your words. Giving the team the most decorated starting line-up in the history of the NBA were Hall of Famers Gary Payton and Karl Malone in conjunction with the arguably awesome Shaq-Kobe duo. Not to mention backup like Derek Fisher, Rick Fox, and Samaki Walker to properly bolster such a dynamite group. On paper, these guys were "unstopable" and theirs was to be the season to end all seasons.
And how'd they actually do? They imploded. Their star power got in the way of their success...and, if I remember correctly, a guy by the name of Kevin Garnett was the NBA MVP that year. Anyone who would say that the "talent wasn't evenly distributed" this year needs to check themselves - and look, some string bean in the midwest took home the MVP anyway.
Regardless of how talented or allegedly untalented one's team mates are, their game should still be theirs.

Kobe played with MVP winnig calibur in the first round. His stats: 28 ppg on about .497 shooting,6 rpg, and 5 apg. I feel that he distributed the ball pretty good.

If Kobe was as good as you think he is then he would have helped make his teammates better instead of completely stagnating their development. You could make a case for Smush Parker seemingly getting better but it only looks that way because he can dunk but he can't do anything else consistently.
