I'm not Italian/German, but wanted to see the outcome. They only came alive the last ten minutes of extra time.

Juventina, you must be Italian. I watched the France/Brazil match - not boring - Glad Brazil lost (not French). I also watched the Germany and Argentina match (I'm not either) and did not find it boring. Nothing against Italian or German team - just found it a boring game. I cheared as Italains drove by my house waving their flags. You just can't help it. It's the spirit of the game.

Did not ask question to trash either team. I am a football fan. Matter of opinion, so quit being so defensive everyone. Just wanted to know how many ppl shared the same point of view. No wonder the spirit of the WC has gone down the drain. It's because of people like you who get so defensive. I'm Portuguese, but you don't see me offending anyone.

I did not find it boring at all. Both teams played their hearts out and were exhausted at the finish. Italy capitalised on a lapse in concentration by the German players and the rest is history. It was a shame either had to lose and I hope the Portugal/France game is as good also.

There were a lot of matches that were more boring as this one. I thought it was quite exciting really. I am neither German nor Italian but it was an okay match. The referee did not stop the match for every little thing although I think there were a few moments that were worth a yellow card. If this referee had done Port-Neth there would probably have been 5 yellow and 1 red cards.

I guess everyone has his opinion. A match is something near to a movie. I feel action movies sometimes boring, and Woody Allen's always delight me.
As above, the match I like to watch could be slightly different than yours. Of course, Argentina - SRC was a funny game, but I could turn off TV on 2-0. Argentinians have got full control of the match and SRC was unable to react.
Germany - Italy was an opposite kind of match. Both teams share the control of the match, no one overcoming its opponent. They must play with their best effort and maximum care, as we seen a mistake only is needed to lose the match. So Italian tactical master coach Lippi did the right moves to end the draw only when he thought Germans were too tired to counterstrike them. Iaquinta (forward) replaced Camoranesi (midfielder) when first extra-time half was starting, and suddenly Italy got a post and a crossbar. German seems shocked and unable to reply, so Lippi at 104' replace Perrotta (midfielder) with Del Piero (forward), but Germany waste a great opportunity with Podolski. Again, at 111' Del Piero fails to run Lehmann and Podolski reply forcing Buffon to the best match save. The end is well known.
What does this mean?
It's easy to spot football is definitively NOT a game done by neverending shooting, lots of forwards, mindless running, tons of goals... it's a tactical game. And reachs its top when same level opponents are struggling, not when a team easily overcoming the opponent.
If you like goals, runs, fair-play, friendship, do as mine: PLAY it. But think twice before watching finals stage WC matches: they're slightly different then stage1 were. Now we can't see Spain-Tunisia or England-T&T...

there is more to soccer than just goal scoring. scoring isnt the point of sports anyways. it is the beauty of a goal coming together. the fact that for almost two hours you must pay attention to every second of the match. American sports have many points but they stop too much. The atheletes dont have to be in shape becasue they know there is a TV time out coming.

Soccer is the bomb, and this world cup is good stuff. Especially this match.

Ok you must be insane. that was one of the - if not the best game of the tournament. There was constant action. The number of goals do not determine the quality of a game, this is not the NBA. It was an absolutely fantastic game. I am glad we won but the Germans were excellent as well. FORZA AZURRI!

those who found the match boring are either not football fans or fans who just watch for goals. I found the match so exciting.. it's been one of the most exciting games so far!! so the answer is a definite "no" for me.

Both played well. Attack and defence of both were good. But Italy came on top. Thumbs up to Italy. Hard luck for Germany.

Have you been watching at all? It was a thriller. Football/soccer is not only about goals, it's about team play, and yesterdays' game was a shining example of that.
