I decided to go back to school to finish my B.A. last year. My grades suffered as I was working full time. Now for next Sept. I found a part time job, but I am wondering how to pay for car, credit cards, gas & food on less than 1/2 the income that I had. I am thinking about consolidating my credit cards, but don't think this would give me enough income still to survive modestly.

Has anyone else done this? how did you manage your finances? I don't wanna ruin my credit.

Receiving Stafford Loans. Not sellin the car, paid halfway. No cable, need cell phone, I keep it to the minimum.

Must have 12 units (full time) to keep loans and housing. I am hoping to add more work hours, but until work ok's it, I'm cracking my knucles.

Well, first of all the Government has various programs from the standard GSL (Gauranteed Student Lan), to the Pel, and others that will assit you in meeting your educational goals. As for paying for the other things in your life I suggest consolidation. By doing this you will find all sorts of things you can live without that you thought you couldn't. For instance your car, perhaps a used one would sufice for now. Give up the cell phone if you have it or the houise dont need both right now you cant afford it. Cut back to basic cable, and then tighten your food budget, there are some great tv dinners out there. I am tellign you from experience if you want to get certain things done your going to have to give some stuff up along the way. I know it s not easy but maybe living the bottom of barrel right now wuold help you out more.

Are you getting financial aid?

When I started, about half my tuition was paid through grants, the rest through loans. 2 semesters later, I'd earned myself a full scholarship and am going to school for free, practically.
