Mystegail is right. While everyone enjoyed dancing to the latest steps in the '40s, '50s & early '60s, by the mid-sixties, music began to change and became more artistic, serious and dealt with issues. It was something to take seriously for listening and reflection. For at least a good decade or more, most white people couldn't have cared less about dancing. It was regarded as rather frivilous. The style and structure of the new music just didn't lend itself to dancing anyway. Just seemed foolish and, quite frankly, square to many of us. Of course, when Disco started happening, a resurgence of interest in dancing definitely took the country by storm once again, at least for a few years.
For whatever reasons, it's just not the big deal with us the way it seems to be with others. In my opinion, however, there is only one style of music that one simply can't avoid dancing to - Salsa!

So what you're saying is you've checked it out and 95, Ninety-five, that's all but five of 100 per cent of all the White people there are, have trouble staying on beat while dancing? You need to watch some old movies and try and find someone in the chorus lines who wasn't White.
I ain't sayin' nothing, I'm just sayin',

I think 95% is a little high, but I'd say it's because, alot of the music "white" people listen to isn't "dance" music.
Hey, we were out there ripping up the dance floor when DISCO ruled the world too!! Maybe we just didn't look as good doing it!
I think anyone can dance, if they have the right music! :)

Black people have all of the training from their ancestors. You've saw them boogy woogy around their tribal fires, and when their old masters use to shoot at their feet, it helped them stay on beat.

Why is okay to make racist stereotypical statements about whites? I dance very well thank you very much, so does my daughter, and we are white. Dumb ***.
