India's chances was always positive. With currrent indian team, young players like MS Dhoni, Sreesanth, Raina etc., and the experienced plyers like sachin, rahul, shewag and yuvraj it was sure that india will be among the last four teams of the cricket world cup. but to win the world cup there must be strong hard work and high confidence level among the players. As a coach Greg is doing really agood job. But there must be some good tactics to defeat teams like Australia and South Africa. But seeing the current form of sriLankan team during the England series it seems they will be a tough opponent for the indians. the last one day series against WestIndies must taught Indians nice gameplan. they must have studied the pitches in the west indies. that was evident from their test series win. So, as a last comment it was for all the cricket playing nations India announces iits ability to win the world cup even against the formidable australians.

Indian Chances of World Cup.......................?
Well Sachin is going to return and he will play (i don' know about Ganguly). India has players like V Sehwag, R Dravid, MS Dhoni, Y Singh who are really the Seniors of Indian Cricket and it isn't easy to break da Wall (Rahul Dravid).
Also Indians need bowlers to bowl the oponnents out! Irfan Pathan, Agarkar, Harbhajan Singh will be sure there, but hopes so Kumble too is present.
Well all India needs is to maintain the oponents run-rate (below 4.5 will be as good as ever) so that even though they are not out at 50 overs, they won't chase the target.

India's chances, I thought was quite good - atleast a place in the final but after losing the recent series to WI, I think that we should count ourselves lucky to get into the semis. Remember we are playing the WC at WI and the way our batsmen fared - barring Rahul, a lot of serious work need to be put in. Sachin, hopefully would be fit , so he should be in the playing eleven. Saurav, I feel should also get a look into- in case his forms returns to yester years.
