She obviously thinks that it's no big deal, which was the common belief when she grew up.

Time to change her mind. If you are a friend or family member, sit her down and tell her how she is harming her grandchildren. Even brief exposure to second hand smoke can cause asthma, and other problems, and is just not healthy, as well as setting a bad example for the grandchildren. Explain to her that she should set aside one room in her house for smoking, and not smoke elsewhere when the children are present .... better yet, always. Don;t smoke in a car. Etc.

Give her all th einformation you can that backs up this if she doubts you. Ask her if she really loves and cares for her grandchildren. If she says that her parents/grandparents smnoked and it didn't harm her ... point out that from their example she became a smoker.

because she probably grew up that way, and it was not considered harmful until recently. So where she comes from, she doesnt think it wrong to do that.

that is awful. she comes from another generation that doesn't understand the affects - you must get her some literature... It is killing them! (as I'm sure you know)

i dont know either. she doesnt know how to take care of her kids maybe or she's old enough to care...
